Uruguay Fishing Trips
Salto Uruguay
Los Gauchos is known for its Uruguay hunting trips and South America resource for wingshooting and hunting. However, we also fish! And so Los Gauchos has some of the best South America fishing destinations. As the famous Harry Middleton said "Fishing is not an escape from life, but often a deeper immersion into it." This perfectly describes the Uruguay dorado fishing experience and Salto is the city in the northwest part of Uruguay that provides the freshwater and the numerous golden dorado.
Uruguay is such a wonderful country with the noted parts being the farm land, hills, rivers, small towns, and wildlife. A perfect setting for a fishing trip.
Get ready though, the golden dorado in Uruguay are not just cast and reel in a fish or 2...these are fighters and large. The action is exciting and the fish are unlike any other freshwater fish.

Salto - Uruguay
The first question if you already have figured out where Uruguay is located in the southern hemisphere, is where is Salto?
Salto is located about 495 km from Montevideo - just northwest of Montevideo, the capital city of Uruguay and the location of the international airport. Many times guests will spend some time in Buenos Aires, Argentina and then drive to Salto. This can be arranged by Los Gauchos Outfitters.

Salto has a population of about 100,000 and is the 2nd largest city in Uruguay. Yes, Uruguay has more dorado, doves, ducks, Perdiz, and pigeons than people!
One of Salto's area attractions are thermal pools which are located on the property of a hotel that many of our clients and their families stay. The natural springs are kept at over 100 degrees Fahrenheit (38 °C) all year.
